There's an interesting test on morality here . Here's how I stacked up... Moral Attitude Results: Your values are neither extremely traditional nor particularly progressive. When it comes to social morals, you feel that society's current laws need to be more liberal and flexibile across the board. You believe that the government's current positions are generally balanced and fair, but disagree with a few of its practices. Personal Survey Results: You enjoy having novel e...

Radley Balko has an interesting article posing some thoughtful questions to VP Cheney and potential-VP Edwards. Here are a couple of my favorites. For Sen. John Edwards, Democratic nominee for vice president: —You said in a campaign speech that we have “One America that pays the taxes, another America that gets the tax breaks,” and that in your administration, we’d have “no more tax breaks for CEOs who give themselves millions in top-hat pensions while giving no pensions at all to...

Tragedy has struck, once again. Genario Garcia doused his girlfriend, three children, and himself with gasoline in a small car and set the group on fire. “Antigone Monique Allen, 18, who had recently filed an assault complaint against the 24-year-old man, survived for nearly eight hours at a Seattle hospital, sheriff's Detective Ed Troyer said. She managed to tell investigators and family what happened before she died. Garcia snorted cocaine while they were out Tuesday night and the t...

So that meant no cable for me for the first three months. I thought about getting a dish, but I knew that I would get cable eventually, if for no other reason than Internet access. So I decided to go ...

Walter E. Williams has an insightful overview of some recent comments by Bill Cosby. This time Cosby spoke at Jesse Jackson’s 33rd Annual Rainbow/PUSH Coalition conference in Chicago. Cosby suggests taking responsibility for the future of blacks, and urges blacks to stop blaming whites for their problems. Addressing the conference, Cosby said, “This is a time, ladies and gentlemen, when we have to turn the mirror around.” Williams agrees with Cosby stating, “Nobody can sensibly argu...

"In Italy for thirty years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love; they had five hundred years of democracy and peace and what did they produce? The cuckoo clock." - Orson Welles (1915-1985) "

I’ve always had an inquisitive mind and a talent for understanding. I’m planning on writing about that later, but for now I wanted to share one of my mother’s favorite stories about me. My “undermind” plays a vital role in the tale. Back when I was about six or seven, I wanted to take a bike ride. So I went to fetch my bike only to find that it had a flat tire. I was pissed. Well, as pissed as a happy 6 or 7-year-old can be. See, I don’t like it when my plans are foiled, and this fla...

The Philippines joined Spain today in surrendering to terrorism. The Philippine Government issued a statement saying that they will withdraw their humanitarian contingent in Iraq in order to appease terrorists holding Angelo de la Cruz. The terrorists were threatening to behead the truck driver if Philippine support in Iraq was not removed. Foreign Secretary Delia Albert has stated, "Philippine President Gloria Arroyo has to weigh the life of de la Cruz, a father of eight and one of a...
